How do I take care of my pH electrode?
Maintain your pH electrode properly according to the insert that comes with your electrode and meter. This will instruct you on how to clean your pH electrode and avoid contaminating it.
Purchase and use electrode cleaning and storage solutions and always rinse your pH electrodes with distilled or preferably deionized water. Contamination is a major cause of inaccurate and non repeatable pH readings. Over 90% of problems in taking pH readings are due to electrode problems. Users often blame the pH meter first but the problems are almost always a result of contaminated, dead or poorly cleaned and maintained pH electrodes combined with sloppy unscientific calibration and measuring techniques.
Remember you are working as a chemist. Accuracy counts.
